Lamborghini unveiled the new Urus Performante during the 2022 Monterey Car Week, and with sales set to begin at the end of 2022, there is still time to test and improve. Just recently the world’s first Urus Performante was caught outside the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory in all its glory, giving us a first, clear look at the new SUV. While practically identical under the hood with the Urus, the Performante version looks a little bit different, is lighter, and is just a tiny bit more powerful.
While it is rather difficult to differentiate the two Urus models, there are a few elements that will give away the Performante version. First of all, it has a lot of carbon fiber elements - in fact, the highest number of carbon fiber parts in its segment. There is a carbon fiber hood, a more aggressive front bumper with a carbon fiber splitter, black intakes, an optional carbon fiber roof, plus a large rear spoiler that increases the rear downforce of the Urus Performante by 38%. The model also gets new wheels and sits closer to the ground by about 20 mm thanks to its new steel springs.
It is not only the looks that make the Urus Performante better than the standard Urus. It is also its weight and its power. Under the hood, you will find the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, but for the Performante it delivers a total of 657 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque - a 16 horsepower increase over the base Urus, while torque remains unchanged. The new model is also about 104 pounds lighter, changes that have considerably improved its sprint time: 0 to 60 mph is now done in 3.3 seconds - down from the previous rating of 3.6. Top speed however remains unchanged at 190 mph.
Even before its official launch, the Urus Performante broke the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Road record with a climb time of 10:32.064 - smashing the previous record held by Bentley Bentayga since 2018 with a time of 10:49.902. This means, of course, that more records are soon to be broken. In fact, we can’t wait to see how fast it will lap Nurburgring!
With Lamborghini announcing it will start delivering the new urus Performante before the end of 2022, you should expect to see a lot more like this on the road in the near future. It has a starting price of $260,676!
